Vanilla and Chocolate...

Some may see a bowl of
Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream
just as it is,
milk and sugar

But I'd like to think that
somewhere in the simple confection
of these two,
side by side

Is the cure for a a day smashed
through a sledgehammer,
the doorway out of bittersweet accidents
and whiskey sour anger --

When covered with toffee-flavored hope,
layered with candied-cherry dreams,
Vanilla and Chocolate can save the soul,
if not, the world...
