Nerve-racking,
sleep-depriving,
hyper-alerted,
silent panic --
"... She's going to need an appendectomy, right away... "
Head in hands,
slow breaths,
waiting, pacing,
more waiting --
"... We're taking her into surgery now... "
Staring into space,
thinking about what
she means to me,
to my existence --
"... It's been removed, and she's heading to recovery... "
Exhaling slowly,
holding her hand
at her bedside,
I can smile, again...
